Small Candle

A story about a small candle carried by a man who was climbing the stairs of a lighthouse. In their way up to the top, the candle asked the man, "Where are we going?"

"We're going to the top of this lighthouse and give signals to the big ships on the ocean," the man answered.

"What? How could it be possible for me with my small light to give signals to those big ships?"
"They will never be able to see my light", replied the candle weakly.

"That's your part. If your light is small, let it be. All you have to do is keep burning and leave the rest to me", said the man.

A little later, they arrived at the top of the lighthouse where there was a big lamp with a loop behind it. Then the man lit the lamp with the light of the candle and instantly, the place shone so brightly that the ships on the ocean could see its light.

With our being and our limitations, we're hardly able to do any meaningful things. Yet, one thing we should bear in mind is that our life is like a small candle in God's powerful hand. All our abilities and expertise will remain as a small light if we don't put our life in God's hand. On the contrary, even if our light is so small or dim, if we entrust all our life to God, he is able to make our small light into a big one that brings blessings to many people.

Do not look at your inability, limitations, and weaknesses. God entrust you with something. Have faith that you are in His mighty hand that He will use you according to His will. When we put all our trust in Him, we will see how He uses our lives, including our limitations, to be blessings to others.

Making Sure Your Boss Knows There is a Problem

Making sure your boss knows there is a problem cause they may not know. Really.

I spent a bit of time working in a professional recruiting office, and one of the things I gleaned from this experience was that some people let there boss know they are unhappy for the first time when they are turning in their resignation.
This seemed odd to me, but after I had spent some time out in the work force I understand why. Most people have a fear of being fired. They then feed this fear the concept that if they let the boss know they are unhappy, he/she will let them go and hire a happy person.
In my experience as the boss, I know that fixing a problem to make employees happier is easier most times, than finding a replacement.
While at the recruiting office we used to ask the unhappy candidate if their boss knew that they were unhappy. Most of the time the answer was, "No." And we would instruct them on ways to let them know. Because there is this danger in having the first conversation at the point of resignation. It is called the counter-offer.

We would have these unhappy candidates twice. First, Mr. Unhappy would go on interviews and get a new job offer. He would accept and go see the boss. Mr. Boss would say, "I had no idea you were unsatisfied with X Y and Z. Here is a 20% increase and we will get you some help." Mr. Unhappy would not be able to turn this down, and pull out of the new job. Then he would spend a couple of months planning to spend all this new money, and training his replacement.

Yes that is right, that help that Mr. Boss arranged is going to soon be the only one doing that job. Mr. Boss doesn't have the budget to give Mr. Unhappy a 20% raise for a year, but he can for 3 to 4 months.

So three months later, Mr. Unhappy was not only back, but back and unemployed at the same time. The best prospect didn't want him as he had pulled out of their offer and had burned that bridge.

Some one will probably reply with a nice story about how they got a counter-offer or how they use job offers to extort raises from their boss. But please believe me that these are the rare cases.

Now about talking to the boss. One of my favorite ways it to offer to buy him lunch. There are many times when a boss of mine will want to talk off site about up coming organization changes. I use the same format to air issues and grievances. Also, a free meal is a good way to say, "Hey, I still like you but we need to talk."

If you are having trouble getting this meeting you may have to do it in the office, then I recommend a conference room at least. Try not to have this discussion in their office where people will knock on the door and call on the phone and interrupt.

Getting into as neutral of a setting as possible is important a a psychological reasons as well. Your boss may have trouble relating to your problems sitting behind a mahogany desk surrounded by awards and achievements.

And be sure to have written down some or all of what you want to say. Even if you don't bring it or read any of it. Writing it down can help prepare you to sound more concise and coherent.

Alexander The Great

There is very instructive incident involving the life of Alexander, the great Greek king.

Alexander, after conquering many kingdoms, was returning home. On the way, he fell ill and it took him to his death bed. With death staring him in his face, Alexander realized how his conquests, his great army, his sharp sword and all his wealth were of no consequence.

He now longed to reach home to see his mother's face and bid her his last adieu. But, he had to accept the fact that his sinking health would not permit Him to reach his distant homeland. So,
the mighty conqueror lay prostrate and pale, helplessly waiting to breathe his last. He called his generals and said, "I will depart from this world soon,

I have three wishes, please carry them out without fail." With tears flowing down .
Their cheeks, the generals agreed to abide by their king's last wishes.

"My first desire is that," said Alexander, "My physicians alone must carry my coffin." After a pause, he continued, "Secondly, I desire that when my coffin is being carried to the grave, the path leading to the graveyard be strewn with gold, silver and precious stones which I have collected in my treasury.

" The king felt exhausted after saying this. He took a minute's rest and continued. "My third and last wish is that both my hands be kept dangling out of my coffin."

The people who had gathered there wondered at the king's strange wishes. But no one dare bring the question to their lips. Alexander's favorite general kissed his hand and pressed them to his heart. "O king, we assure you that your wishes will all be fulfilled. But tell us why do you make such strange wishes?"

At this Alexander took a deep breath and said: "I would like the world to know of the three lessons I have just learnt. I want my physicians to carry my coffin because people should realize that no doctor can really cure any body. They are powerless and cannot save a person from the clutches of death. So let not people take life for granted.

The second wish of strewing gold, silver and other riches on the way to the graveyard is to tell People that not even a fraction of gold will come with me. I spent all my life earning riches but cannot take anything with me. Let people realize that it is a sheer waste of time to chase wealth.

And about my third wish of having my hands dangling out of the coffin, I wish people to know that I came empty handed into this world and empty handed I go out of this world."

With these words, the king closed his eyes. Soon he let death conquer him and breathed his last. . . . .

WASHINGTON, DC - On August 24, 2007, a grassroots group of parents and scientists, known as CoMeD (Coalition for Mercury-free Drugs), filed a comprehensive 447-plus-page "Citizen Petition" 1 with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

CoMeD filed this petition as a part of its efforts to protect the public from unnecessary mercury poisoning.

This petition seeks to ban the addition of any mercury compound to any medicine unless that use is proven toxicologically safe.

Specifically, this petition asks the FDA and/or the Department of Health and Human Services to:
  1. 1.
  2. IMMEDIATELY issue an order barring the administering of any disease-preventive Thimerosal-containing vaccine, or other such mercury-containing pharmaceutical product, that contains more than 0.05-micrograms-per-dose levels of Thimerosal to pregnant women and children under the age of 60 months,
  3. 2.
  4. Suspend the approval or licensing of any FDA-regulated product that contains Thimerosal or any other mercury-based compounds as a preservative, or adjuvant, in the final formulation unless the total level of said compounds is not more than 0.05 micrograms of mercury per dose for vaccines and similar biological products or, for other pharmaceutical products administered more frequently, not more than 0.01 micrograms of mercury per day,
  5. 3.
  6. Issue a Class I or, failing that, a Class II recall of all batches of multi-dose vaccines that contain a Thimerosal level of more than 0.001 %, and
4.
To protect public health and safety , issue orders:
a.
Banning vaccines and other infrequently administered biological drug products providing more than 0.05 microgram (µg) of mercury per dose of product from being introduced into commerce in the United States and any of its territories, possessions, and commonwealths after 1 January 2008,
b.
Banning other drug products providing more than 0.01 µg of mercury per day from being introduced into commerce in the United States and any of its territories, possessions, and commonwealths after 1 June 2009, and
c.
Requiring, after 1 January 2008 , the recall and destruction of ALL:
i.
Vaccines remaining in commerce that contain more than 0.05 µg of mercury per dose, and
ii.
Other drug products remaining in commerce that contain more than 0.1 µg of mercury per mL (or g) of drug,
unless the manufacturer thereof can prove that the mercury-based compound in said vaccine or other drug product causes no adverse neurological health outcomes in any group or subgroup of susceptible individuals, including, but not limited to, males, fetuses, newborns, children, and adolescents.
Our "Citizen Petition" petition has been assigned the FDA Public Docket identifier, "2007P-0331" and should soon be linked to, and available on, the electronic edition of this docket:

.

1
A "Citizen Petition" is a federally established avenue of recourse for the public to pursue a review of any aspect of the FDA's oversight of foods, drugs, medical devices, and cosmetics. By rule, the FDA, the Agency that oversees such filings, has 180 days to respond to the petitioners' requests.

" In conclusion, vaccines are a perfect manifestation of everything that is satanic. They represent an adulterous and arrogant tampering with divine creation, based on the intellectual conceit of "perfecting" creation. They are poisonous, containing derivatives from metals such as mercury and aluminum, and from formaldehyde. They are made from the cell lines and viruses of biblically unclean animals such as monkeys, cats, etc. Worst of all, they are made from the cell lines of premeditatedly murdered children. No Hard Edges - Creating Space In The Body

Our minds and bodies are interconnected, and the condition of one affects the condition of the other. This is why meditation is such a powerful tool for healing the body, as powerful as physical therapies. When our minds are cluttered with thoughts, information, and plans, our bodies respond by trying to take action. When the body has a clear directive from the mind, it knows what to do, but a cluttered, unfocused mind creates a confused, tense body. Our muscles tighten up, our breath shortens, and we find ourselves feeling constricted without necessarily knowing why.

When we sit down to meditate, we let our bodies know that it is okay to be still and rest. This is a clear directive from the mind, and the body knows exactly how to respond. Thus, at the very beginning, we have created a sense of clarity for the body and the mind. As we move deeper into meditation, the state of our mind reveals itself, and we have the opportunity to consciously decide to settle it. A meditation teacher pointed out that if you put a cow in a small pen, she acts up and pushes against the boundaries, whereas if you provide her with a large, open space, she will peacefully graze in one spot. In the same way, our thoughts settle down peacefully if we provide them with enough space, and our bodies follow suit.

When we settle down to examine and experience our consciousness, we discover that there are no hard, definable edges. It is a vast, open space in which our thoughts can come and go without making waves, as long as we let them by neither attaching to them nor repressing them. As we see our thoughts come and go, we begin to breathe deeper and more easily, finding that our body is more open to the breath as it relaxes along with the mind. In this way, the space we recognize through meditation creates space in our bodies, allowing for a feeling of lightness and rightness with the world.

Tale to Understand - One needs to relax and a lot time for other important things in life also to stay sharp and effective always!

SHARPEN THE AXE

Once upon a time, a very strong woodcutter asked for a job at a timber merchant's, and got it. The pay was really good and so were the work conditions. For that reason, the woodcutter was determined to do his best.

His boss gave him an axe and showed him the area where he was supposed to work. The first day, the woodcutter brought eighteen trees

"Congratulations," said the boss. "Go on that way !"

Motivated for the boss' words, the woodcutter tried harder the next day, but he only could bring only fifteen trees. The third day he tried even harder, but could manage just ten trees. Day by day he brought less and less trees.

"I must be losing my strength." the woodcutter thought. He went to his boss and apologized, saying he could not understand what was going on.

"When was the last time you sharpened your axe?" the boss asked.
"Sharpen? I had no time to sharpen my axe. I have been very busy trying to cut trees."!

SPIRITUAL COMMENTARY

Our lives are like that. We sometimes get so busy that we don't take time to "Sharpen The Axe".

In today's world, it seems that everyone is busier than ever, but less happy than ever. Why is that?

Could it be that we have forgotten how to stay sharp? There's nothing wrong with activity and hard work. But God doesn't want us to get so busy that we neglect the truly important things in life, like taking time to pray, to read and do noble things in life.

We all need time to relax, to think and meditate, to learn and grow. If we don't take time to sharpen the
axe, we will become dull and lose our effectiveness.

So start today. Think about the ways in which you could do your job more effectively and make your life more meaningful and add a lot of value to it!!

An Easy Way to Explain Things to your Wife

A husband and wife are getting all snugly in bed. The passion is heating up. But then the wife stops and says, "I don't feel like it, I just want you to hold me."

The husband says, "What?"

The wife explains that he must be in tune with her emotional needs as a woman. The husband realizes that nothing is going to happen that night and he might as well deal with it.

So the next day the husband takes her Christmas shopping at a big department store. He walks around and has her try on three very expensive outfits. She can't decide. He tells his wife to take all three of them. Then they go over and get matching shoes worth $200 each. And then they go to the Jewellery Department where she gets a set of diamond earrings. The wife is so excited. She thinks her husband has flipped out, but she doesn't care. She goes for the tennis bracelet. The husband says, "But you don't even play tennis! Well, okay if you like it then let's get it. You deserve the best for Christmas."

The wife is jumping up and down so excited she cannot even believe what is going on. She says, "I am ready to go, let's go to the cash register." The husband stops and says, "No, honey I don't feel like buying all this stuff now." The wife's face goes blank. "No honey, I just want you to hold this stuff for a while."

The look on her face is indescribable and she is about to explode and the husband says, "You must be in tune with my financial needs as a man."

3 Minutes Management Course

It takes a minute to read it all the way though but it worth it

3 Minute Management Course Lesson

******************************************************

Lesson 1: A man is getting into the shower just as his wife is finishing up

her shower, when the doorbell rings. The wife quickly wraps herself in a

toweling runs downstairs. When she opens the door, there stands Bob, the

next-door neighbor. Before she says a word, Bob says, " I'll give you $800

to drop that towel. " After thinking for a moment, the woman drops her

towel and stands naked in fronton Bob. After a few seconds, Bob hands her

$800 and leaves. The woman wraps back up in the towel and goes back

upstairs When she gets to the bathroom, her husband asks, " Who was that? "

" It was Bob the next door neighbor, " she replies. " Great! " the husband

says, " did he say anything about the $800 he owes me? "Moral of the story:

If you share critical information pertaining to credit and risk with your

shareholders in time, you may be in a position to prevent avoidable

exposure.

*************************************************************

Lesson 2: A priest offered a Nun a lift. She got in and crossed her legs,

forcing her gown to reveal a leg. The priest nearly had an accident. After

controlling the car, he stealthily slid his hand up her leg. The nun said,

" Father, remember Psalm 129? " The priest removed his hand. But, changing

gears, he let his hand slide up her leg again. The nun once again said, "

Father, remember Psalm 129? "The priest apologized " Sorry sister but the

flesh is weak. " Arriving at the convent, the nun went on her way. On his

arrival at the church, the priest rushed to look up Psalm 129. It said, "

Go forth and seek, further up, you will find glory. "Moral of the story: If

you are not well informed in your job, you might miss a great opportunity

lesson

********************************************************************

Lesson 3: A sales rep, an administration clerk, and the manager are walking

to lunch when they find an antique oil lamp. They rub it and a Genie comes

out. The genie says, " I'll give each of you just one wish. " " Me first!

Me first! " says the admin clerk. " I want to be in the Bahamas , driving a

speedboat, without a care in the world. "Puff! She's gone. " Me next! Me

next! " says the sales rep. " I want to be in Hawaii , relaxing on the

beach with my personal masseuse, an endless supply of Pina Coladas and the

love of my life. "Puff! He's gone. " OK, you're up, " the Genie says to the

manager. The manager says, " I want those two back in the office after

lunch. "Moral of the story: Always let your boss have the first say.

******************************************************************

Lesson 4: An eagle was sitting on a tree resting, doing nothing. A small

rabbit saw the eagle and asked him, " Can I also sit like you and do

nothing? "The eagle answered: " Sure, why not. "So, the rabbit sat on the

ground below the eagle and rested. All of a sudden, a fox appeared, jumped

on the rabbit and ate it. Moral of the story: To be sitting and doing

nothing, you must be sitting very, very high up.

****************************************************************************

Lesson 5: A turkey was chatting with a bull. " I would love to be able to

get to the top of that tree, " sighed the turkey, " but I haven't got the

energy. " " Well, why don't you nibble on some of my droppings? " replied

the bull. They're packed with nutrients. "The turkey pecked at a lump of

dung, and found it actually gave him enough strength to reach the lowest

branch of the tree. The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached

the second branch. Finally after a fourth night, the turkey was proudly

perched at the top of the tree. He was promptly spotted by a farmer, who

shot him out of the tree. Moral of the story: BullS*** might get you to the

top, but it won't keep you there.

****************************************************************

Lesson 6: A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold the

bird froze and fell to the ground into a large field. While he was lying

there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on him. As the frozen bird lay

there in the pile of cow dung, he began to realize how warm he was. The

dung was actually thawing him out! He lay there all Warm and happy, and

soon began to sing for joy. A passing cat heard the bird singing and came

to investigate. Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the

pile of cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him. Moral of the

story:(1) Not everyone who sh*ts on you is your enemy(2) Not everyone who

gets you out of sh*t is your friend(3) And when you're in deep sh*t, it's

best to keep your mouth shut! This ends the 3-minute management course

Translating Our Feelings

When new challenges and opportunities show up in our lives, we may diagnose ourselves as feeling scared when what we really feel is excited. Often we have not been taught how to welcome the thrill of a new opportunity, and so we opt to back off, indulging our anxiety instead of awakening our courage. One way to inspire ourselves to embrace the opportunities that come our way is to look more deeply into our feelings and see that butterflies in our stomach or a rapidly beating heart are not necessarily a sign that we are afraid. Those very same feelings can be translated as excitement, curiosity, passion, and even love.

There is nothing wrong with being afraid as long as we do not let it stop us from doing the things that excite us. Most of us assume that brave people are fearless, but the truth is that they are simply more comfortable with fear because they face it on a regular basis. The more we do this, the more we feel excitement in the face of challenges rather than anxiety. The more we cultivate our ability to move forward instead of backing off, the more we trust ourselves to be able to handle the new opportunity, whether it's a new job, an exciting move, or a relationship. When we feel our fear, we can remind ourselves that maybe we are actually just excited. We can assure ourselves that this opportunity has come our way because we are meant to take it.

Framing things just a little differently can dramatically shift our mental state from one of resistance to one of openness. We can practice this new way of seeing things by saying aloud: I am really excited about this job interview. I am really looking forward to going on a date with this amazing person. I am excited to have the opportunity to do something I have never done before. As we do this, we will feel our energy shift from fear, which paralyzes, to excitement, which empowers us to direct all that energy in the service of moving forward, growing, and learning.

Skin Care Tps - To Do and Not To Do

1.Not Drinking enough water:
This is perhaps the most repeated advice and the least followed. Your body needs at least two litres a day to remove toxins from your system, partly through your kidneys and partly through your skin. Lacking this, toxin build-up will affect your skin as well as your general health, making you tired and dull. Keep that bottle on your desk, and drink!

2. Picking your pimples:
We do it unconsciously, when nervous, or just as a habit. pimples don't harm your face permanently. What leaves untreatable scars is your picking, pinching and playing with them -- scars so deep that even dermatologist cannot get rid of them 100 per cent. Prevention is the best cure, so stop touching your face and start proper anti-acne treatment.

3. Smoking disrupting the normal breathing of Skin:
Smoking beedi, cigar and cigarette blocks the pores on the skin thus disrupting the normal "breathing" of the skin. So a smokers skin grows "older" much faster than that of a non smoker.

4. Shaving the wrong way:
And it isn't just men I'm talking to. Women who use razors for body hair also beware -- shaving against the direction of hair growth (ie from below upwards) causes ingrown hair, damaged follicles and introduces infections into your hair roots that can cause painful recurrent boils. Shave only in the direction of hair growth -- this will prevent damage to your skin.

5. Not using sunscreen on a hill station
You've gone for a high altitude vacation and the cold weather makes you believe you don't need sun protection -- wrong! At higher altitudes, there are lesser layers of atmosphere between you and the sun to filter UV rays, so your ultra-violet exposure increases. You need your sunscreen all the more!

6. Taking hormone supplements for body building:
It isn't just the men, even women who want a 'toned' look quickly take DHEA (DeHydroEpiAndroste rone) supplements. These are known to cause acne even in normal skin, and flare up existing acne. Protein supplements are fine though, and actually help your skin.

7. Not reapplying moisture / sunscreen:
Are you the jet setting type who slaps on lotion in the morning and then spends the next two hours at work without a further thought about your skin? Air conditioned offices sap moisture from your skin in a couple of hours. Also, no sunscreen retains its effect beyond two hours. Apply frequently -- at least during your lunch break, after a quick face wash.

8. Waxing your upper lip / facial hair:
A total nightmare for your delicate facial skin -- the trauma causes tiny microscopic bleeding into your hair follicles that, over time, heal with scarring and end up causing roughness and pigmentation that is extremely hard to treat.

9. Going on a 'proteins only' diet:
Fad diets deprive your skin (and body) of essential nutrients. You need vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and various micronutrients that a single food diet cannot give you. Talk to a professional dietician before embarking on drastic diet plans and get them to prescribe the appropriate nutritional supplements.

10. Late night partying:
Your body sleeps at night, but your skin doesn't -- most of its repair and renewal work is done while you're in bed. Depriving it of the nightly eight hours of rejuvenation will obviously leave it looking dull and tired. Good sleep is a must for good skin!

11. Stressing out:
Stress shows up after years on your heart and blood pressure, but almost immediately on your skin. So listen to your skin when it is trying to tell you something -- patchy complexion, blemishes, dullness, itchy redness, rashes appearing at periods of high stress, acne flare-ups -- all point to unwarranted high stress levels. Try yoga, meditation, exercise, or whatever your best stress buster is.

Veternary Doctor

Once a man went to a Veterinary Doctor in India and said:

Doctor I have come on vacation for a month so that I can get myself
treated fully within this period.

Doctor: I think you should go to the Doctor opposite to my clinic,
see that board.

Man: No, Doctor, I have come to you only

Doctor: But, gentleman I am a Veterinary Doctor. I am an animal
specialist. I do not treat human beings.

Man: I know, Doctor very well and that is why I have come to you only...

Doctor: I can not, because you speak like me, think like me, talk
like me which means you are a human being and not an animal.

Man: I know I am a human but litsen to my complaints first:

Doctor: OK. Tell me.

Man:

I sleep vigilantly like a dog thinking about my work load whole night.

I get up in the morning like a horse

I go to work running like a deer

I work all the day like a donkey

I run around for 11 months like a bull without any holiday.

I wag my tail in front of all my bosses

I play with my children like a monkey if I get time.

I am like a rabbit before my wife

Doctor: are you an engineer?

Man: Yes

Doctor: Instead of telling this long history you should have told me
in the begining itself that you are are an engineer. Come man, no one
can treat you better than me.

There Is No Armor We Can Wear

There is no armor we can wear,
No wall or fortress we can build,
No force of arms, no shield of fear
To equal what the heart has willed.

No wall or fortress we can build
Can stop a soul on vengeance bent,
Can equal what the heart has willed,
A purpose pure, of dark intent.

Can stop a soul on vengeance bent,
Death for death and pain for pain,
A purpose pure, of dark intent
To kill for grace and not for gain.

Death for death and pain for pain:
The lust to purge oneself of grief,
To kill for grace and not for gain
That anguish might find some relief.

The lust to purge oneself of grief
Must yield in turn an answering lust.
That anguish might find some relief,
We'd turn an Eden into dust.

Must yield in turn an answering lust,
Hate to hate set groove on groove.
We'd turn an Eden into dust
To turn away the face we love.

Hate to hate set groove on groove,
No force of arms, no shield of fear.
To turn away the face we love
There is no armor we can wear.

I don't know, but it's been going for so long.
I thought that everything would be just fine.
But it's not, and it never will be.
Without my heart beating for the one I love.
The moment I see that i've been drowned in lies.
The more I start to realise.
That i've been put to shame.
Been pushed away.
Drifted to the side.
And there's nothing I can do.
Nowhere to go, nowhere to hide
And it hurts.
But I promise I will not cry
Cause crying shows I'm weak, and I fear not to die.
There was always something more.
Something I under looked.
Something that was right infront of me.
But invisible through my eyes.
I cannot comprimise.
What is the meaning of love.
For I not know.
The meaning of hurt?
That is becoming more clearer to me.
But even then, with only one to blame.
It seems like, it's more.
Cause nothing is the same.
My blood will forever flow.
Pouring from my heart.
I've stained your floor.
And I've torn myself apart.
Bloody hand stains, at your door.
But never will I cry.
For I am not weak.
You might just ask why.
But I can live without you.
And put myself to sleep.

Experiencing Nature By Night

In the height of summertime's heat, we drift outdoors at dusk to refresh ourselves in the temperate air of evening. Cricket song and the glow of fireflies come together with ever-lengthening shadows to create a natural symphony of overlapping sensations that invigorate the body and gladden the soul. As the sun sets, the vivid colors of most flowers and leaves fade, becoming a dull grey, but moon gardens provide us with a space to appreciate Mother Nature's bounty long after the light of day has retreated. Designed to be enjoyed from dusk until the coming of the darkness, these gardens serve as a perfect complement to silvery moonlight, mild summer nights, and the spirit of rejuvenation.

Most plant life worships the sun, but a select few shrubs and flowers come into their own in luna's glow. The silvery leaves of lamb's ears and artemisia reflect the radiance of the moon, while the bright-white flowers adorning yucca and evening primrose seem to shimmer brilliantly in dusk's gloom. Certain blossoms such as the moonflower and four o'clocks open only at night, releasing their sweet fragrances in spectacular displays of scent and beauty. While creating a moon garden, remember to take each human sense into account. We appreciate the ghostly beauty of nighttime nature best when we can sit comfortably until our eyes have adjusted to the surrounding darkness. Bamboo and thick grasses make a comforting sound when bandied about by gentle nighttime breezes.

Transforming a portion of your existing yard or patio into a moon garden is simple, and the pleasure you will derive from your nighttime retreat will become worth it once you start to enjoy it. Green spaces come alive at night when nocturnal blossoms release their perfume into the air and ethereally lovely and luminous foliage dances in the breeze. In a moon garden, relaxation is a simple matter of attuning yourself to the stillness of evening and seeing, for the first time, the myriad shades of beauty that can be found in the darkness.

The Man Who Willed Himself To Die

There was a man who worked for the railroad. One day as
he went into the freezer compartment to do his routine
work, the door accidentally closed and he found himself
trapped in the compartment. He shouted for help but no
one heard him since it was past midnight. He tried to
break down the door but he could not. As he lay in the
freezer compartment, he began to feel colder, and
colder. Then he began to feel weaker, and weaker, and
he wrote on the wall of the compartment, "I am feeling
colder, and colder; and I am getting weaker, and
weaker. I am dying, and this may be my last words". In
the morning when the other workers opened up the
compartment they found him dead. The sad twist to the
above story is that the freezing apparatus in the
compartment had broke down a few days earlier. The poor
worker did not know about the damaged freezing
apparatus and in his mind the freezing apparatus was
working perfectly. He felt cold, got weaker and
literally willed himself to die.

SUCCESS PRINCIPLES

Our sub-conscious mind can be cheated. The sub-conscious mind can only accept and act on information passed to it by the conscious mind. It has no capacity to reject or decline any instructions or
information passed to it by the conscious mind. In the case of the poor worker, he consciously thought that he was getting colder, weaker and dying and the sub-conscious mind accepted the above instructions and affected his physical body. That was how he willed
himself to die.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE

"Every now and then go away, have a little relaxation, for when you come back to your work your judgment will be surer. Go some distance away because then the work appears smaller and more of it can be taken in at a glance and a lack of harmony and proportion is more readily seen."

Sad but, nothing can kill the human spirit

Some places was rocked by serial bomb blasts.

In this news their was this news of tracking down few more bombs and defusing it before they exploded.
Nothing can kill our spirits in fighting terrorism. What matters is humanity. And for these terrorists human slaughter is fun.
I am dedicating this thread to curse these terrorist. Everyone has a fire inside them for them, pour out and curse them and it will work, at the same time pray for all those who have been affected irreversibly by these inhuman acts of terrorism
For terrorists: May their souls rot in hell and they and their whole cult be punished by the almighty and on the day of judgement they feel the pain of hell loose on them.
For people who died yesterday : God shall avenge your death. You have gone to the heavenly abode with unfullfilled wishes and left back a remorseful family. I pray to god that all your unfulfilled wishes may be granted and mercy will decent upon you and your soul will be at peace.
We have guided missiles but misguided people. Lord show them the path to the righteousness. I know the judgement day is near. Have mercy on our souls, for we dont understand you made this world beautiful but, we have sinned and converted it into a living hell.

5 Simple Steps Could Save 100,000 Lives

Preventive Actions Like Cancer Screening Could Prevent Thousands of Deaths

Aug. 8, 2007 -- If more Americans followed just five simple preventive health care practices, nearly 100,000 deaths each year could be prevented.

A new study shows that getting adults to follow simple steps like getting help to quit smoking or being screened for cancer could save tens of thousands of lives every year.

According to the study, the top five underutilized health care services with the biggest benefits are:

  • Daily aspirin therapy to prevent heart disease.
  • Smoking cessation. An additional 42,000 lives would be saved each year by increasing to 90% the portion of smokers who are advised by a health care professional to quit and are offered assistance. Currently, only 28% of smokers receive such services.
  • Colorectal cancer screening. Another 14,000 additional lives would be saved each year by increasing to 90% the portion of adults aged 50 and older who are up to date with any recommended screening for colorectal cancer. Today, fewer than 50% of adults are up to date with screening.
  • Flu vaccination. An additional 12,000 additional lives would be saved each year by increasing the portion of adults aged 50 and older who got an annual flu vaccination to 90%. Only 37% of adults currently get an annual flu vaccination.
  • Breast cancer screening. An additional 3,700 lives would be saved each year by increasing to 90% the portion of women ages 40 and older who have been screened for breast cancer in the past 2 years. Today, 67% of women have been screened in the past 2 years.

Disparities in Preventive Health Care

"A lot of Americans are not getting lifesaving preventive services, particularly racial and ethnic minorities. As a result, too many people are dying prematurely or living with diseases that could have been prevented," says Eduardo Sanchez, MD, MPH, in a news release. Sanchez is chair of the National Commission on Prevention Priorities, which conducted the study. "We could get much better value for our health care dollar by focusing upstream on prevention."

The study shows minorities consistently use preventive health care services less often than whites. For example, Hispanic smokers are 55% less likely to get assistance in quitting smoking than whites.

Overall, among the top 12 preventive health care services examined by the report, seven are used by about half or less of the people who should be using them.

Talk to Your Wife

It`s 4 am

she`s deep in slumber
and you`ve just booted the computer
this dreamy rhyme
is now your muse

---

The love may have gone out of your life
doesn`t matter
just talk to your wife

Keep your frustrations
your fears and sorrows
to yourself my friend
you run the risk
of killing yourself in the end

You may not find her charming
heck, her mere presence is alarming
it can get worse, trust me
just talk to your wife

You believe
that you are at a dead end
you feel helpless
trapped in a world of your making
as it comes down crashing

You didn`t marry her for her intelligence
and it may be true that beauty is dumb
her form may no longer be comforting
let alone alluring
to hell with these concepts, pal
just talk to her, your wife

You have cheated
the cyclical fling
You craved pleasure
the satisfaction
the thrill and the high
the external validation
of forbidden mating

I am not here to preach
nor you need confess
she desperately desires intercourse
so why do you hesitate?
don't wait
just talk to your wife

You` may have yelled at her
shoved her in shouting matches
scared her shitless
But let me tell you the one thing
that disturbs her more than any other
your silent rejection

The love may have gone out of your life
doesn`t matter
just talk to your wife

When she asks
"does the color suit me?"
Don`t mutter "Yes", "No"
or "I don't know"
You need to tackle this PhD thesis
with the seriousness it deserves
Flame away, if you must, without any mercy
look her in the eye
make her feel alive

She wants to be
your prized possession
but you have trashed her like garbage
and made her stink
It can all change in a moment
for a start
treat her like a stranger
drop your preconceptions
talk to her, your wife

Every now and then
maybe once a month
she loses it completely
it is PMS time
be an assenting idiot
with humor and wisdom
but don't ignore her or worse
be patronizing

You define her more
than you realize
your words have the power
to heal and empower
am I a broken record?
talk to your wife

the love may have gone out of your life
doesn`t matter
just talk to your wife

Iranian recipe - Tah chin

Tah-Cheen

Ingredients: (4 servings)

  • chicken, 1 kg
  •  rice, 500 grams
  • yogurt, 300 grams
  • saffron, 1/2 teaspoon
  • large onions, two
  • 3 eggs (yolks only)
  • cooking oil
  • salt
  • black pepper

Directions:

Start by washing rice and soaking it in warm water (with added salt) for 2 hours. Then filter out the water.

Chop onions into thin slices and fry in oil until slightly golden. Wash and cut chicken, remove skin, and fry in onions until color changes. Add some water and bring to boil. Turn heat down and let boil slowly until cooked, adding more water if needed. Remove the bones.

While chicken is cooking, beat the yogurt until it is smooth. Dissolve saffron in half a cup of hot water. Add saffron, salt, pepper and egg-yolks to the yogurt and mix very well.

Pour a few glasses of water in a large pot and bring to boil. Pour in rice and cook while stirring occasionally until rice grows longer and slightly softens (Take care not to overcook the rice. It should still be too hard for eating). Again filter out the water.

Pour several spoons of oil and several spoons of the yogurt mix into a non-stick pot. Add a thin layer of rice and flatten using the back of a spoon. Add a layer of chicken on top followed by another layer of rice. Again flatten the rice. Spread several more spoons of the yogurt mix on the rice. Continue in this fashion until chicken, rice and the yogurt mix have been used up. Add some more oil on top. Put the lid on and cook for about 5 minutes over medium heat.

Place the pot in an oven (preheated to 250 F) and cook for 1.5 to 2 hours. Note that the longer Tah-Chin is cooked, the thicker the Tah-Dig (delicious crispy layer of rice at the bottom) will be. When cooked, remove the lid and let cool for a few minutes.

Place an inverted large dish over the pot and turn it over. Tap the pot in order to loosen the contents inside. The contents should fall on the dish in one piece with the Tah-Dig on the outside.

Medical Breakthroughs for Aging Eyes

Neil F. Martin, MD, FACS
American Academy of Ophthalmology

A s we age, our vision can be affected by a number of conditions, including cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetes-related eye damage as well as presbyopia (age-related farsightedness) and insufficient tear production (dry eyes). Catching and treating these problems early is the key to preventing long-term vision loss.

NEW EYE TREATMENTS

A number of new drugs and lens technologies are making it much easier to treat a variety of age-related eye ailments. The following treatments have become available just within the last several years...

Restasis eyedrops for dry eyes. The drug cyclosporine A (Restasis), used to prevent rejection in heart and kidney transplants, also relieves tear-deficiency syndrome (dry eyes) when used as eyedrops by decreasing inflammation in the tear glands. The drops are applied twice a day to increase tear production. Some people may experience slight stinging at first. Anyone with an active eye infection (such as conjunctivitis) shouldn't use the drops.

Improved glaucoma treatments. A new eyedrop medication, latanoprost (Xalatan), reduces fluid buildup better than older eyedrops. (Glaucoma eyedrop treatments work by enhancing the eye's natural filtering process.) While very safe, latanoprost can cause occasional redness, tends to make eyelashes grow longer and may turn light-colored irises brown over time.

Other new treatments include selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT), which uses a cool laser to enhance the eye's natural drainage canal and improve flow out of the eye without invasive surgery. SLT uses less energy than its predecessor, argon laser trabeculoplasty, lowering the risk of damaging surrounding tissue. SLT is so effective and safe that it may even become a first-line treatment for open-angle glaucoma, in place of eyedrops.

Eyeglasses with progressive lenses. Progressive lenses are made by a computer to "morph" from one lens setting in the upper half of the eyeglasses (for far objects) into another in the lower half (for close objects). Progressive lenses have been around awhile, but the newest ones are a vast improvement over what was available just a few years ago. Reason: Advanced computer designs allow a smoother transition from far to near.

Improved Lasik. Lasik surgery uses an "excimer" laser that can be focused very precisely to reshape the cornea to correct nearsightedness or farsightedness.

The newest version, the Allegretto Wave, uses tiny pulses of laser light adjusted by computer to match your eye's specific curvature. It can be used to treat more severe cases of nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism, previously untreatable by laser, and also causes fewer side effects (such as seeing halos around car headlights at night), with less need for corrective follow-up treatments. (To find a doctor who uses the Allegretto Wave, visit www.allegretto-wave.com.)

New replacement lenses for cataract patients. Cataract surgery, in which the cataract-clouded natural lens is removed and replaced with an artificial lens, has long been effective at restoring distance vision. Now, several new types of replacement lenses provide improved near and intermediate vision. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses. Discuss with your doctor which is best for you...

The Crystalens from Eyeonics combines the distance vision of a traditional lens implant with an ability to flex slightly and turn into a lens for near vision when the eye muscles focus on closer objects. It's particularly good at providing clear intermediate vision.

The ReZoom lens from Advanced Medical Optics employs alternating zones of near- and far-distance lenses.

The AcrySof ReSTOR lens from Alcon Laboratories has a series of tiny ridges that diffract light (instead of refracting it, like an ordinary lens), enhancing near and intermediate vision. This lens may be the best of the three for focusing on very close objects.

Note: Cataract surgery is extremely safe, with a success rate of more than 95% and a complication rate of less than 2%. Most complications, such as minor swelling of the cornea or retina, increased pressure in the eye or a droopy eyelid, generally resolve themselves with treatment and time. Rarely, cataract surgery can lead to severe visual loss as the result of surgery-related infection, bleeding in the eye or retinal detachment.

New intraocular contact lenses. For those too nearsighted for Lasik, the FDA recently approved the first intraocular contact lens -- Myopic VISIAN ICL from Staar Surgical. The lens is implanted directly in front of your own lens through a tiny incision. The procedure is safe, and the lens can be surgically removed if necessary. A similar lens for farsightedness and astigmatism is in clinical trials.
